Tuesday morning
We had an uneventful night (yay!) with lots of sleeping. Aragorn was really sweet all night (no yelling!). His oxygen levels and heart rate are really stable. He is definitely on the mend.

Post-op
Well, surgery is over. The doctor removed his tonsils and adenoids then tackled the massive infection. The hope was that they would be able to get the infection cleaned out from the inside after the right tonsil came out. No such luck. The doctor had to make an incision in Aragorn's neck to get to the abscess. Right now he is trying to sleep off the anesthesia but he is not a happy camper. He likes to sit up and start pulling the tubes and wires off. I don't blame him. He is sick of being here.
We are hoping for a Wednesday release if all goes well. Right now we just have to wait.
Thank you to all of you for thoughts and prayers.

Setbacks...
Things were looking so good.
Yesterday wasn't as smooth of a day. Aragorn complained that his head hurt off and on throughout the day. His fever came and went. Last night was not a restful night of sleep. This morning, the lump on his neck is bigger. We will go have another CT and then surgery to get everything cleaned out.
Aragorn is in good hands and we feel really peaceful. Some kids come to the Pediatric floor and find out they have a life-altering illness. He will be fine once we kick this infection. We are grateful.

Our weekend in a nutshell...
*** Update at the bottom ***
Thursday Aragorn tells me he has a headache when he wakes up. He sounds a tiny bit stuffy so I assume he has a cold. Lots of rest and fluids.

Friday he wakes up still with a headache and sleeps restlessly most of the day. Around 5:00 we notice his neck is really swollen. Off to Instacare.
We ended up in the ER and they did a CT scan and a bunch of blood work. Late Friday night he was admitted and we were sent up to the Pediatric floor. He has an abscess in his neck (Lateral pharyngeal space to be precise... I was so proud of myself that I knew what the doctor was talking about!!!) It is basically an infection which possibly started in his tonsils as they just tried to fight off a little cold. Sometimes the infection creates a little bubble and won't let the body fight the germs. Then the infection grows in it's little bubble creating an abscess that can put pressure on everything around it. Not so good.
Aragorn is on IV antibiotics at least through Sunday night.

Sleeping (finally!)
The tube by his face is a humidifier. He has such a hard time relaxing because everything hurts.
*** Edited Sunday morning: The doctor came by this morning and is really happy with Aragorn's progress. The swelling on his neck is almost completely gone and so we will probably get to go home tomorrow morning! Aragorn is feeling much better (he is yelling at us for just about everything but especially that he wants to go home) and he is super excited to eat real food today! ***

Reserved to Fight

My sister sent me this link today about a documentary airing on PBS tonight (Wednesday). It is called "Reserved to Fight" and is about four men from the Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines who were the first reserve unit deployed to Iraq and also the first to come home. Our family friend Chris Nibley is one of the men in this documentary. I plan to watch it and thought some of you might be interested too. If you can't catch it tonight, go here for more times.

Hope your Halloween was spooky!
We had an army guy, a skeleton, and a knight at our house and joined our friend Jango Fett for trick-or-treating!
And why does this always happen?
